Riverina Playhouse | Compliance & Comfort Related Upgrades
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Riverina Playhouse | Compliance & Comfort Related Upgrades
The Riverina Playhouse is currently leased by Charles Sturt University from Wagga Wagga City Council. CSU is a national multi-campus university with three faculties that each offer a diverse range of courses and discipline opportunities. The Faculty of Arts and Education utilise the Riverina Playhouse for teaching purposes, with the facility also available to community organisations and groups.
ICG were engaged following a competitive tender process to undertake the refurbishment and compliance-related upgrades of the Riverina Playhouse together with DWP Architects and NDY Consulting Engineers. Works addressed non-compliant areas of the facility so as to improve the level of fire safety, structural adequacy and energy efficiency within the building, and to satisfy DDA requirements throughout. Risk surrounding the substantial passive fire protection requirements was mitigated by having much of this critical component performed in-house.
Value engineering activities included ICG sourcing a D&C acoustic plant room louvre option from a local supplier, in lieu of the proprietary option specified, resulting in significant post-tender cost savings to the client.
This refurbishment has brought the facility up to modern standards and is now better equipped to serve the needs of CSU and the wider community into the future.
